CUMO has digitized its mobile training unit through the production of media products such as training videos in order to reach those with low literacy levels and those based in hard to reach areas. Based on the VSL methodology, the series of videos includes an introduction to the VSLs, as well as modules on entrepreneurship, marketing and marketing access, environmental management, anti-Gender Based Violence and HIV/AIDs etc.

By having the village agents use these videos; CUMO can maintain the quality and consistency of trainings by relaying the same information to groups and target communities without human error or omissions. and mobile based tools can be used to complement staff training and provide continuous support to the group.

These tools may also reduce training costs, improve the capacity of village agents and reduce trainer needs for sustained technical assistance. These tools are designed for mobile phones, tablets and do not require internet connectivity after the initial download. During the training the trainers are equipped with a tablet and speaker.

Group members that have a smart phone may also access the videos for their own use. Videos and audio materials are not meant to replace in person training; rather they should be considered complementary to highlight key procedures, reinforce crucial messages, and promote group discussion. These materials are available at no cost.
